So-called Death Penny in the name of Private Andrew Schofield, 243474 of the 2nd/5th Bn, Lancashire Fusiliers.

Killed In Action on 20th September 1917 at the age of 29.

This battalion had been part of the 51st Highland Division since 1915 and of the 55th Division since 1916.

During the Third Battle of Ypres (20-25th September 1917) or Battle of the Menin Road Ridge, the 55th attacked on the left flank and Schofield was killed.

Complete with copy of documents concerning his death and where he is buried and a so-called cap badge of The Lancashire Fusiliers.

Schofield is buried at Tyne Cot Cemetery, Zonnebeke (BE).

With over 20,000 casualties, this is the largest British/Commonwealth cemetery on the mainland.
