Canadian 1902 pattern enlisted men jacket of the 38th Battalion (Ottawa).
Very nice wool quality with only 1 notable spot on the back, see photo.
Provided with all brass emblems on collar and shoulders.
On the inside of one sleeve illegible white and red stamp.
On the lining of one of the pockets clearly the Canadian “C” with broad arrow .
Complete with shoulder lanyard.
The 38th arrived in France in 1916 and took over the front line at Kemmelberg in Belgium.
It then joined the rest of the Canadian Corps for actions on the Somme.
They also fought at Vimy Ridge and Avion in early 1917 and from October 1917 in Belgium at Ypres, Passendale and Hill 70.
In December 1917 they had to return to Avion (Fr.) and took part in the battle at Amiens, Gentellesbos, Loos, Canal du Nord and Cambrai.
